The Douglas C-47 Skytrain (Dakota in RAF service) became one of the best know transports in Word War 2. Developed from the DC-2 airliner the DC-3 first flew in 1935. Over 10,000 were produced including over 500 Lisunov Li-2 (licensed Soviet version).
