Simon Pocklington grew up in Norfolk and
studied photography at the West Surrey College of Art and Design. He has worked
in the photographic industry for nearly 40 years starting as holiday camp
photographer and then a hand colour printer in the days when making prints
involved darkrooms and smelly, noxious chemicals. He progressed into wedding
photography and portraits before running several studios.
For the last 20 years he has worked as a freelance
photographer and his work has been on nearly a hundred book covers, in numerous
magazines and continues to sell as stock photography for a multitude of uses.
He has also been runner up in the Sunday
Telegraph Photographer of the Year competition, winner of the Photography magazine cover girl
competition (that’s his photograph – not him personally) and has been featured
in many photo anthologies.
He is a qualified adult education tutor and
industry trainer and teaches photography, basic computer skills and English as
a foreign language. He is now starting a second career as a writer and was
runner up in the Let’s Talk short
story competition (2015)
