I like
black and white pictures. You can push the boundaries of the erotic
a lot more in black and white without offending. Some of the great
photographers such as Edward Weston, Bill Brant and Alfred Stieglitz
established the medium as an art form and this still influences the
way people view photographs today.
Would
they have used colour if it had been as available, and more importantly,
as controllable by the photographer as it is today? Probably, but
like modern photographers, they would probably have reverted to black
and white when they wanted to concentrate on shape and form. Black
and white still makes the statement 'look at me I'm being different/serious/
artistic/creative' in today's super saturated colour world.
