Kizzle contacted
me through Purestorm, which is one of the modelling portfolio and
community websites. She was new to modelling and hoping to do some
TFP/CD (time for prints or CD of pictures) work to get some experience
and photos for her portfolio.
As
e-mails floated back and forth she seemed very organised, always replying
promptly and with lots of questions. She had also thought about the
types of modelling she wanted to do and the level she was willing
to work to; all of which are good signs in a new model.
The only problem
looked like being actually getting her to the studio as she rides
a motorbike but wasn't very confident on it in the wet weather. I
didn't want her turning up looking like a drowned rat and, although
her hubby offered to drive her over, we eventually agreed to do the
shoot at her flat. I often prefer to work on location but usually
invite new models to the studio, as it looks a bit more professional.
We exchanged mobile numbers and set up the session for the following
week.
Thanks to sat
nav and Kiz's directions I managed to roll up at her door on time.
She had already done her make up and hair and had installed hubby
in front of T.V as a chaperone. My first tasks were to do a quick
scout of the flat, which showed the bedroom and landing to be the
most promising locations, and to make a copy of K's driving licence
as proof of age. She commented that I was the only photographer she
had worked with so far who did this which is surprising as K could
easily pass for under 18 and no id, could mean no sale especially
to US clients. I also got her to sign the model release.

Kiz's
only shortcoming was that her wardrobe was a little bit limited. I
suggested that she think about starting a modelling bag and filling
it with stockings, suspenders, thongs, some matching underwear sets
and a couple of pairs of high heeled shoes plus make up hairspray
and other useful bits and pieces. Nothing expensive, Primark do knickers
for £1 each and a lot of supermarkets do cheap stockings and other
clothes: cut the labels out, not so we don't know they are cheap,
but because nothing looks worse than a label sticking out or showing
through of a pair of sexy knickers. A lot of my regular models keep
the stuff in their bags just for modelling so that it always looks
pristine and they can just grab the bag when going on a shoot and
know that they have got all the basics.
I
intended to do as much of the shoot as possible in natural light but
since this is limited in the UK in winter I'd brought one of my Bowens
and a small Jessops Portaflash slave unit. The Portaflash is a little
slow to recycle but is great for providing a bit of fill in a confined
space. We had already discussed what we hoped to do during the shoot
so we started with some general glamour portrait shots. These were
really only done as a warm up to get K used to my way of working but
also give me a chance to work out her strength and weaknesses.
We did some pictures
for my 'Personal Space' project and some content for a mild fetish
website. We finished off with some figure nude using the skylight
on the landing and speculatively shot a few potential erotic book
covers. Throughout the shoot Kiz worked hard, and was keen and enthusiastic.
The total shoot took about four hours and, although we had agreed
on a TFCD shoot, I knew the fetish pictures were good enough for site
so paid Kiz for the time we had spent shooting these.
